Since the 11th of April 2019 till 18th April that UTME candidates sat for their examination, there has been a sense of anxiety on the JAMB result.
It’s no longer breaking news that candidates who participated in the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) by the Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB) have been asking this particular question; “When will the 2019 jamb results be out?”
Is JAMB Result Out For 2019?
From all information we have been gathering so far, especially from statements made by the JAMB head of Media and information, Dr. Benjamin Fabian, we’ve learned that JAMB has on several occasions noted that the UTME results for 2019 are yet to be released 28 days after candidates participated in the examination.
Which is to say that all candidates who participated in the UTME exercise cannot check their results, after sitting for the examination.
This is so unlike previous years when the UTME results are released in less than one week after candidate’s take the examination. For example, in 2017, candidates received their results via SMS a few hours after sitting for the examination.
Why Has JAMB Not Released UTME Results For 2019?
This question has gotten different answers from the jamb registrar and Jamb’s Spokesperson. According to a statement which was recently made by JAMB, it was noted that the JAMB board has not released the UTME results due to a probe it is carrying out on examination malpractice.
According to the UTME boar, including the registrar, a huge percentage of 2019 UTME candidates engaged in malpractices and it is verifying particulars of the candidates before they will be releasing the results.

Speaking on this issue, the Board through Fabian Benjamin, said and I quote below;
“We would strictly follow the process so that we can get it right. We are less concerned about the time, but (more about) how well and credible (the results become); neither policy meeting nor admission will start this month”.
The JAMB aid went further to clarify why the board is yet to release 2019 candidates result, saying that “Illegality had thrived in the society over the years because people failed to follow issues to (their) logical conclusion”.
Dr. Fabian went on to plead with well-meaning Nigerians to support their fight against malpractice. He said and I quote: “We need the support of Nigerians to achieve that.”
The delay in the release of the results has made many parents worried as they called on exam board to do the needful. Other bodies like the NUT has called on JAMB to release the results of candidates who were found innocent.
Some candidates have even pleaded with the board to release the results in batches. All these plead felled on deaf ears as the jamb board is bent on “fighting Examination Malpractice in Nigeria”
When Will JAMB 2019 UTME Results Be Out?
The JAMB board through its spokesperson, Fabian disclosed that candidates should expect their results between Monday, 29th of April to Friday, 3rd of May, 2019. Shamefully, the board failed on its promises.
As at the time of reporting this, there is absolutely no specific date revealed by JAMB for the release of the UTME results.
But we hope that the results will soon be released once the board has concluded its investigation of Exam malpractices perpetrated by Candidates and some fraudulent jamb officials.
We believe in this statement made by Professor Clement of UI, saying;
“If some people do not deserve to have result, such should be withheld for further investigation, that is the normal standard practice anywhere in the world”. Those whose result have been found innocent should be released.
