The SMS method of checking UTME result has been suspended by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). The JAMB management discloses that they have suspend the use of USSD code to check 2021 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results.
The guide on how to check jamb result with SMS is basically ineffective to all 2021 UTME/DE Participants.
Speaking on this new development, JAMB’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin said that the suspension is as a result of the current challenges being experienced with the use of the USSD code by the 2021 candidates.
Dr. Fabian reveals that the only viable method for candidates to see their result is to visit JAMB’s website.
Here’s what JAMB spokesperson said and I quote below:
“The Board has been notified by the technical department that the result checking on USSD code 55019 is facing various challenges. To ensure that candidates enjoys smooth result-checking, the board is directing all candidates to visit the JAMB portal to check for their 2021 JAMB result.
“Each candidate is to follow these simple steps provided on this portal https://www.jamb.gov.ng.
“When the jamb.gov.ng website loads, on the menu bar, click on efacility; When the e-facility page loads up, click on UTME 2021 Main Results Notification Slip; Type in your registration number or phone number you used to receive your PROFILE Code in the blank box provided and click the button “Check My Result”.
“Candidates can check their results from anywhere in the world by accessing the JAMB portal, checking by USSD code 55019 is suspended.”
However, for candidates who wants easier method of checking their performance or accessing their result, use the guide provided below.
STEP 1: Go to the JAMB result checking portal at https://portal.jamb.gov.ng/eFacility_/CheckUTMEResults.
STEP 2: Tyoe in your JAMB Registration Number/Email Address/Phone Number in the blank box provided.
STEP 3: Click on ‘Check My Results’.
The portal will load your result if it has been uploaded by the board and available.
For candidates who are still intrigued on how the SMS method of checking UTME result works, here’s the current 2021 method. You will be charged a mandatory N50 Naira before your result will be shown to you.
Candidates who sat for the 2021 exercise are required to send UTMERESULT via SMS, to 55019 with the same number that was used to register for the exam (Note that you MUST have a minimum credit balance of N50 on your Simcard). The result will be replied to as an SMS immediately.
However, since the examination body has suspended the use of the 55019 code due to various difficulties, the SMS method is useless.
